Thanks, Diane, for inviting Kristen Rosselli from the City of Raleigh Community Services Department for our monthly speaker engagement!  Kristen has a large job and small staff, which sounds very familiar....  We were able to ask so many questions about the tornado destruction, and needs of the community, about volunteering, and also some great ways to get our organization well known in the community.  Anyone is welcome to these community and individual development evenings.  Come on out and bring someone along!

Cary Jaycees Camping!

This Saturday, the 21st we will be at Jordan Lake camping.  You are welcome to come and enjoy the campfire, stay the night, or join in on a campsite breakfast...or, of course all of the above.  Since this is an individual development project, we will be learning all about the outdoors, so come to share and absorb some knowledge.  Please contact me if you are planning on coming so I can give you directions to the campsite.

NCJC Burn Center Visitation

The NC Jaycees have been longtime partners with North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill. We will help celebrate the 30th anniversary of that partnership on Saturday, May 14th with a visit to the Burn Center.   at the Carolina Club in Chapel Hill.
The event will start at 10:00.  Immediately following the luncheon, we will head over to the Burn Center for a tour and visitation.
Coming to events like this really shows how important some on the work we do really is.  For example the tree lot we run each year directly supports the efforts of the NC Jaycee Burn Center.

Cary Jaycees participate in the inaugural Fit to Lead 5K

Congratulations to Karen, Diane, Kirsten, Meghann, Cheryl, and Elizabeth for participating in Raleigh's Fit to Lead 5k event. The race raised money for HOBY East (Hugh O'Brient Youth Leadership), a program to encourage High School students to get involved and develop leadership skills.

Camping at Jordan Lake

We are getting ready to go camping.  May is a great time to camp in this area.  It's not yet too hot to be out in the wilderness, hiking and building a fire at night.  I have lots of contacts that will allow us to use their tents for our outing, so please RSVP soon and let me know what supplies you need to borrow!
